Pick me, Pick me!!

I tried out for cheerleading five different years & every time was the same - I would stress for weeks before the tryouts about whether or not my jumps were high enough, if the fact that I didn't have my back handspring would matter or not, and if I'd be able to pick up the cheers and dances we were expected to learn.

Every time, my mom would drop me off at tryouts saying, "You can do this!! Be confident! Smile! You've got this!!", and despite being so nervous I could just pee my pants, I made the team four of those times. I got cut my senior year of high school, but that's neither here nor there.

Well, cheerleading tryouts are the only thing I can compare the tryout I'm going to tomorrow to: The Face of WNDY.

Two weeks ago, while I was on vacation (I'll blog about vacation soon) I got a text from an old friend suggesting I try out for the face of WNDY in Indianapolis - a local TV station. I had heard of the contest before, because a friend of mine did it last year but I hadn't ever considered doing it. Well, after some encouragement from her and some research into the position, I've decided to go for it! What do I have to lose?

So, tomorrow, I'll put on one of my cutest outfits - not too sassy, not too boring - and walk into a tryout for a huge promotions position in Indianapolis amongst a bunch of other no-doubt qualified & beautiful women. I'll sit in front of a camera for a minute and tell the judges why I'm the best choice for the face of Indianapolis - I'll tell them making friends is cake for me & that going to new events is one of my favorite things to do. I'll tell them I love my city & as a Butler Bulldog, there's no other place I'd rather live. I'll tell them I'm the best choice & hope they believe it as much as I do.

I'll walk in with a smile & confidence & hope that my momma's right ... I can do this!
