A Revelation

I posted on Young & Restless' Facebook page last night saying I had, had a serious revelation and I was going to talk about it on the blog today.

It may not be as earth shattering to you as it is to me. Because to me, it's a big deal, people.

Last night, as I turned on my car I heard "Friends in Low Places" on the radio. It's a song that brings back memories of one helluva' wedding reception where everyone was singing and dancing & I can't help myself but sing along every time it comes on.

And as I was listening it hit me, the man I marry is going to be one who can sing at the top of his lungs with me (so he has to know the words to all the good old country stuff & 70's & 80's rock) and dance along too.

I'm seriously never as happy as I am when a good song comes on and makes me belt out the words and dance like a crazy woman, so the person I marry is going to have to be able to do it too. And love it.

With that said, I'm leaving you with a playlist of a few of the songs that never fail to get me singin' and dancin'

The Many Faces

I've had more than one person tell me that I can look so different from one picture to the next & the more I look, it's true! Sometimes my eyes are puffy, sometimes they're not. Sometimes my hair is curly, sometimes it's straight. Sometimes I'm on the heavy side, Sometimes I'm on the thinner one. & don't even get me started on the faces. It seems making faces for the camera at parties is like my best talent.

See?

But I promise, every picture I put up really is me, even when it doesn't look like it!

I've got some stuff to share with you

I don't remember if I told you guys or not, but I decided to skip the beach for spring break last week & opted for shopping instead.

Just over a month before spring break, we went to Disney World for my birthday which included flights & Disney tickets for 3 & Disney park food which is *ahem* freakin' ridiculously expensive & lots lots more, so I simply couldn't justify asking for more money for break.

About 3 weeks before break, I wrote the post about babies and my mom started asking me about spring break. She wanted me to go out with my friends, she wanted me to have fun & she wanted me to do anything that didn't involve babies or children. She really wanted me to go.

But I quickly explained to her that the baby post? It was a bit of an exaggeration and there was no way in the world I was really wanting one now. I told her that I needed new clothes & that as much as I wanted to be on the beach and have new clothes, I knew I needed to choose between the two. Plus, traveling really isn't as much fun when it means having to go your own laundry after the trip. Just sayin.

So finally, she agreed that I would come home for the week & use the money she would give me to travel, to shop instead.

& I did some shoppin', baby.

The beginning of the week I spent in my little town going to lunch at the places I've missed so much with my momma & friends on her lunch hour and applying for jobs & napping with the dogs in the afternoons. I cleaned the house, I baked, I blogged, I went for runs, I rollerbladded, I did whatever the heck I wanted, when I wanted.

Thursday was the St. Patrick's Day Parade & Friday we took off to Louisville to see a play, spend the night in a hotel with a big whirlpool tub & shop.

All in all, the week was exactly what I wanted: relaxing & fun. & even though this post is ending up being a re-cap of the week, that's not what I intended it to be.

Mostly, I just wanted to show you some of my favorite things I got while shopping so here you go ...

LOVE this.

I thought this would be really cute to pull down with leggings for going out. It gets longer, swearsies.

I also got a pair of jeans I love but wore 2 days in a row so they are in the dirty clothes hamper, some perfume I'm dying to share with you because it's awesome & some wedges that are to die for but got shipped to my house today so I don't have them to show.

What do you think? Good Choices?

Sweet Baby James

The highlight of the weekend?

Going to the James Taylor concert with my mom & brother (quite easily, my 2 favorite, most loved people).

A few months ago, my mom asked if I wanted to go to the James Taylor concert. She's quite the concert lover. I contemplated not going because, James Taylor? I like him, I thought, but I don't love him. But then I remembered who was footin' the bill for the thing & decided I should take advantage of the opportunity.

Apparently my brother felt the same way because he joined us too.

He arrived at my dorm just 10 minutes before my mom did, so we got a quick talk in & then hopped in the car to go to Binkley's for dinner. I had made reservations online and we were seated as soon as we walked in. The atmosphere at Binkley's is amazing & the food is just as good. Kyle got a beer, mom got wine and uh ... I got water & we had great conversation that only happens every once in a while between all three of us.

Our food came out quickly & let me tell you, my Tilapia topped with mushrooms & bacon was to die for. I'm so glad I didn't get that cheeseburger I had thought about getting because dang! good food is good food.

We quickly headed over to the theatre where JT was going to be playing & walked in to find that Kyle & I were the only ones under 50. Not really. There were some 30-year-olds.

"I don't think I've ever seen so many old people move this fast in my life", Kyle said. Well put, buddy.

James Taylor came out on the stage soon after we got there & played one song before introducing his son, the son of he & Carly Simon, who is touring with him as well. Together, they played for almost 2 hours & I changed my mind. I do love James Taylor. His voice is like the sleep that comes after being the perfect amount of tipsy or like the breeze off the beach on a summer night. So soothing. Perfect.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, we were pretty far back!

I was in my dorm asleep by 11:30 & despite the fact that I woke up to more than one text in the morning asking me why the heck I wasn't out partying, I loved the chance to hang with my 2 favorites in the presence of the wonderful James Taylor & his son, Ben Taylor.
