At 7:20, my momma was in my room clapping her hands & saying it was time to get up.
At 8, I was at a house across town to babysit, making breakfast & making plans for my job on the Butler newspaper. (Did I tell you I'm on the newspaper this year? I am.)
At 10:30, the mom got home & I hurried to Hobby Lobby to pick some things up I had been thinking about using for a photo shoot with 2 good friends today.
I sat down for a skinny minute before 12:30 rolled around & the photo shoot with the sisters officially began.
We didn't finish until 2:30 when I went to Prompt Med with a friend & ate pizza in the car because I hadn't eaten since 9.
At 5:00 it was time for swim lessons with my friend's little brother who's swimming like a little fish at 4.
When I got home, I hurried up & changed clothes so I could meet my good friend Lauren for a pedicure.
All night long, and all during my pedicure & even during the trip to Prompt Med, I have been editing photos & I just finished & burned the CD.
Now I'm writing & about to hit the hay because the day will start again promptly at 7:00 a.m. when I will jump in the shower to make it to Indianapolis to babysit by 9:00.
And after this long day? My head hurts. I don't want to be looking at the computer screen anymore. All of my creative juices have evaporated.
But that got me thinking.
Everything I do in life is creative.
I babysit & make up games & activities for the kids.
I write.
I do crafts.
I take pictures.
I plan events.
I think about promotional items.
& most of the time? I love it. I wouldn't change it for the world. The opportunity to be creative is what makes my heart happy.
But tonight? I'm tired.
& it reminds me that I desperately need balance. Balance. It's a hard word to decipher but it's a necessity.
In between babysitting I need to spend time being crazy with friends.
In between writing I need to run.
In between doing crafts I need to read.
In between taking pictures I need to just lay down & close my eyes.
In between planning events I need to take long walks alone.
& in between planning for promotions I need to be spontaneous.
Balance, it's the hardest thing in the world to achieve but one of the most important ones.
So I think I'll balance my evening out by going to sleep .... Until 7 a.m.
I'll leave you with some shots from today:
