My Little Secret

You know how anytime anyone asks a college student how they like it they always say, "I love it! It's so much fun!"? Well I've been doing that too. & a lot of the time? I'm lying.

I feel bad saying this because I am so lucky & I know that. I go to school at a wonderful private school, it's a beautiful campus, the classes are small & most people are very nice, but I just don't love it.

& Here's the other kinda crazy secret: most of my girlfriends say the exact same thing.

I've only been here for 2 months & I wouldn't consider leaving; I'm thankful for having the opportunity to get a good education & eventually have a great job. I'm super excited about officially being on the PR staff here at Butler. But college means change. College means not sitting on your couch at home, it means not being able to get out of bed & just make breakfast, it means having to put shoes on before going to the bathroom, it means not having people over for Sunday dinner, it means not seeing my mom every day & it means an insane amount of studying & homework. It's tough.

I'm writing this post not so that I can receive sympathy, but simply because I'm confident that there are other people out there who are thinking, wow everyone says they love college but I just don't, & I want them to know that I'm right there beside them.

I packed up everything and left about 2 1/2 months in and finished the semester from home. I then transferred to another school close to home and got an apartment.

I would never change anything, however, I KNOW I missed out on things. My husband says how college was the BEST time in his life. He ran the frat and lived it up. Not to say if you stay, that would be you, but I kind of wish I wish I experienced those things!

On the life scale, this is such a blip. Although it is always hard to see that at the time...

I really believe that it's all about sticking it out. I think that it will be a lot more fun when I join a sorority & just meet more people. Also it takes time to just get used to being away from home - I mean I can't live in my moms house forever! ha! But youre right - it would probably be a lot easier if I lived in an apartment but ... I Will survive! thanks for sharing your story! I appreciate knowing that I'm not alone.
