Spare Yourself.

One thing I've learned the hard way in the last few weeks is how in control we are of our own happiness.

Well, kind of.

I mean, yes, there are things that happen that we have zero control over and sometimes those things really suck and they hurt and we're sad and that's okay but I guess what I'm saying is that even in those situations, we have control over how much they affect us.

For instance, with all the social media sites and phones and accessibility to people we have today, it's easy peasy lemon squeezy to find out information. Like, "where is this person?", "where is that person?", "lets check out pictures from last night because there might be some I want to know about", "let me just drive by this person's house & see who's there" ..... the list could go on and on and on and onnnnnnn.

And for awhile? I was doing all those things. I was checking everything constantly like it was my job. And you know what? Nine times out of ten, I did find something and it did hurt and you know what else? Even though I knew, there was nothing I could do about it and that just sucked more.

I feel like this kind of thing is true in most situations in life. We have so many opportunities to spare ourselves & on the flip side, so many opportunities to just make things hurt more; to pour alcohol right on that wound, if you know what I'm saying.

And for what? For nothing. Because it doesn't help; it makes it worse.

So today, I'm reminding you to spare yourself.

Just don't try to find things out.

Keep yourself away from places you know controversy lies.

Stop comparing yourself to others.

Don't look at pictures you know are going to hurt.

Don't weigh yourself when you drank a margarita and ate a bag of chips last night.

Stop asking questions.

You are the captain of your ship & while you can't avoid the storms, you can determine how you navigate around them.

Stop being this person. It's not actually that rewarding.
