Christmas Decorations!

I already wrote about all of our ornaments, but I haven't written about all of our other christmas decorations and as I was looking around tonight, it hit me that I really should! We have a lot of decorations that are Nana-made, or previously Nana-owned & that makes them a lot more special.

Nana was a florist for a while and her skill was amazing! She made the wreath that hangs above our fireplace and the tree that hangs in our dining room. Both of them have copper ornaments and accents because my mom loves copper. Every year, we hang them up with pride and every year they look gorgeous and remind us of her. I just wish I would've taken some lessons because I'd love to be able to do the things she did.

The presents under our tree are simply gorgeous! We work really hard on them and people are always really excited about the gorgeous packaging. The bows are one of the crafty things I didn't miss out on learning from my Nana. Wrapping presents was serious business for her. It meant a ruler, a pencil, the normal scissors, tape, paper and big ribbon with which she made beautiful bows. She taught me, and I taught my mom & now our Christmas tree bears gifts that are as good to look at as they are to open!

Our stockings are hung on the mantle on the mirror with care. Mine is on the top left, Mom's is under it & Kyle's is on the right side. We've all gotten new stockings since Mom's was like a literal stocking and Kyle & I had Mickey & Minnie Mouse ones. Plus these are bigger :)

It's kind of hard to see but this is a little sleigh filled with small boxes and Christmas Trees set around it. They were all Nana's.  She loved Christmas and her house was always over-the-top and beautiful. I got most of her Christmas decorations since my only aunt on that side is Jewish and neither my dad nor my uncle wanted them. This sleigh used to have an elf that sat in it, but that was one of the few things my aunt wanted. So now, only the gifts and a small trumpet sit in the sleigh and that's okay with me. I love it!

Neither of these things were Nana's, they're both my mom's but they've been around for as long as I have, and it just wouldn't be Christmas without them.

Meet me under the mistletoe?

Ali, your family's Christmas decorations are beautiful! And I'm totally envious of those gift-wrapping skills. The presents look beautiful. And I just read the comment you left earlier, about the kid you babysit for... That's hysterical! Gotta love those little kids :)
