Being Awesome & Putting Your Best Foot Forward.

It's so important, as women as the 21st century, to always put our best foot forward. I've been thinking about that especially lately because I'm about to go through rush and since first impression is everything during rush, it's important.

So, I put together some tips to help you, the modern woman, do that.

Dress to impress, almost always: I'm the queen of running to Target on a Saturday afternoon in yoga pants, and my hair in a bun. I get that. But really, it should be an exception. So, so many times I've made a lot of awesome connections in places I would've never expected to do so. Like Starbucks before class on a Wednesday morning where I met a PR pro who later sent me an internship offer. And the truth is? People do judge a book by its cover. And they're judging you by your old, paint covered yoga pants. So at the very least, get the makeup out from under your eyes, put on some mascara and lipgloss and make sure your outfit wouldn't embarrass your grandma. You never know where you could meet your future boss or um ... husband.

Be nice .... and watch your mouth: It seems pretty obvious, but be nice to people. If you're about to fly off the handle, slow down, take a deep breath, and handle the issue when you're not so upset. Treat people the way you want to be treated and for heaven's sake, be rational. Don't be petty. No one likes Everyone hates a petty, whiny woman. It only reflects poorly on you. While you're being nice, be sure to watch your mouth. You never know who's listening when you're dropping the F bomb like Michelle Duggar is dropping her pants ... haha. I mean, you should be careful about where you say stuff like that too.

Think twice about what you're putting on the interwebs: I'm guilty of thinking everyone on Facebook & Twitter is my friend. Don't be deceived. Everyone on the interwebs is not your friend. And they're certainly not your counselor. Save your baby-daddy drama for your momma. F'reals. You don't want to come off as whiny, hard to get along with or annoying so before you post something, think. And if I see one more girl post on Facebook about how she hates girls well ... I might have to take a moment to calm down, and deal with the issue when I'm more calm.

Keep your eyes and ears open - seek out opportunities: There truly are opportunities everywhere. Seek them out. Whether you're looking for a new job, new friends or a new hobby, just be open minded and take opportunities - fearlessly. Social Networking is one of the best things for new opportunities. Add people on Twitter who are into things you're into, post on Facebook about something new you want to do & ask if anyone wants to come. Opportunities are all around you. Seize them.

Do what you say you're gonna do: My mom has stressed a lot of things to me in my 19 years on this side of heaven but one of the biggest things is that I need to always do what I say I'm going to do. I was never allowed to quit any sport or club until the season or time I had committed to had finished & that was a good lesson. Being accountable is huge. And yes, I know it can be hard because a lot of people are flaky but stick to it. Do what you say you're gonna do. Keep on Keeping on. It says a lot about you.

If you're doing all these things, you're probably on your way to being totally awesome like me some really great things because you're putting your best foot forward.

... anything I missed? I'd love to know what you'd add!

These are VERY important! ESPECIALLY the last one! I find that I over commit, and always am a "yes!" kind of girl. I'm slowly learning that it's OK to say NO!

And being nice is a given, although there are times I haven't been nice and I HATE myself for that!

LOVE this, and agree 100%! If my brain doesn't get un-blog-fogged, I may link back to you if you don't mind?
