Guest Post: "Fashion Is Not A Luxury"

This? is the first ever guest-post. which is a big deal.

And it's written by Amanda from Chasing Twins in Louboutins who is also a big deal.

Ironic.

If you don't know Amanda? you should because she is just like a fun-size candy bar: sweet & adorable. Oh. and she's pretty fun too.

She looks like a million bucks all of the time even though sometimes she shops at Forever 21 instead of Saks & that's what she's writing about today: how to look good on a budget.

She's the perfect lady for the job.

---------------------------------------

How lucky am I that I get to guest post for Miss Ali while she is on vacay!?
Hopefully I can keep your attention on this here blog while she is somewhere living it up.
I split my blog between fashion and 2 chicken littles. You are lucky enough to get a post on the former today.

I have a t-shirt that says “Fashion is not a luxury.” I think I paid about $3 for it and every time I wear I think “damn right.” You don’t need an endless income to step out lookin’ fine. Even if you have good and ridiculously expensive taste...cough...like me...cough.

First and most important, sales are your best friend. But never buy something simply because it is on sale. Buy something because you love it. Don’t go to Target every weekend and buy a billion Mossimo sweaters because they are cheap. Instead, buy 2 or 3 timeless sweaters that will last you a couple seasons. If you want cashmere {who doesn’t?} buy on sale when we are coming into summer.

J.Crew has great cashmere that is well priced. But sign up for their emails to know when they are having an extra 30% sale prices, and that is when you buy cashmere. J. Crew is also great for well made, timeless pieces in general. If you end up spending $30 extra on clothing items that last you 2 extra years, it’s worth it.
And buy off season! Look at what you can get on sale right now from J. Crew.

Putting together your pennies and picking up some stuff like this is the way to go:
{All currently on sale}

Sweater- comes in 4 colors
$49.99

Cargo Dress {comes in 2 colors}

Shortcut Sweater {comes in 5 colors}
$29.99

Cashmere Zip Cardi {comes in 3 colors}
$69.99

A big secret is that I rarely spend money on trends. I get those items from my favorite store ever- Forever21. Anywhere that has trendy $6 belts and $5.50 for a basic t-shirt or tank is my kinda place.
Check out some of these things for under $10

Belt
$5.80

Striped Tank
$5.50

Classic T-shirt {comes in 4 colors}
$5.50

And make sure to check out online shops like lulus.com and shopruche.com for really cute shoes under $50!

Bow Wedges
$38.99

Knotted Wedges
$38.99

Striped Flats
$37.99

Low Wedge
$38.00

You can still be stylish without spending a fortune. This is true more than ever in today's world. Never think you cannot afford a particular store without even going in- okay maybe not Hermes or Louis Vuitton. But stores that people tell me are out of their budget have some of the best sales!
