God telling me to quit being a brat

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon & a productive one at that.

I had written most of a paper, done some laundry, showered, baked, I had done dishes & finally it was time to rollerblade.

Rollerblading is my favorite form of exercise. It means good exercise but still one that I can do while holding a good conversation.

Rollerblading gives me a healthy dose of sunshine & fresh air; the stuff my soul craves.

So anyway, my friend Ali and I were rollerblading down the street gossiping; it had been a while since we had seen each other.

While we were gossiping, a boy became the topic of conversation, a boy we had both thought was cute in high school, a boy I may or may not have planted a big juicy one on before.

 Or a long juicy one.

Which wasn't that great.

We'll call him Joe.

We were blading along, thinking we were hot stuff when Ali was like, "what ever happened to Joe anyway?"

"I don't know", I said, "He would be so cute if he wasn't so awkward. Like seriously, he's the kind of guy you just want to take by the hands and be like, look me in the eyes, I know it's going to be really hard for you but you can do this. We're gonna get this awkwardness out of the way", and I kept going, "and it's too bad that he was such an awful kisser".

I continued with showing her just exactly how he did it - all sloppy like and too aggressive.

And in the middle of me being a total ass, and also while we were going down a hill, my feet flew out from under me and I feel right on my butt, flew up, and then bounced down on it again.

Ali, God love her, doesn't know how to use the stoppers on her blades so she was all, "Al! are you okay?" as she kept going full speed ahead.

I was laying in the street on my stomach with my head on the curb,  moaning.

"Ok! ok!" she kept saying over and over, trying to slow down, trying to turn around to help me.

Finally, she came back around, pulled me up & we headed back home.

& while I bladed down the street, legs trembling from the fall, face covered in dirt & tears, I realized that God was simply reminding me, "don't be an asshole; Ill make you look like a fool, I'll teach you a lesson".

And he had.

I'm so sorry, but this was a great story! Isn't it funny how God works? I get those little lessons a lot.

Also, I had forwarded your blog to a friend. She loves it! You have another fan! :)

I completely identify with this! As painful as it must have been for you, I guess it's good to get the lesson. I'm going to have to remember this when I gossip!
