18 letters, 3 names, 1 story.

Alexandra Elizabeth ___________

You may have picked up on this, but in case you haven't, I'll tell you, my mom & I are best friends. Sometimes to a fault. We tell each other almost everything even though there's a few times I have regretted it. Most of the time though, I'm so grateful for the relationship we share & I hope that I'll have the same type of relationship with my kids.

That being said, I call her every morning after I go out & tell her the tales of the night. One morning we were talking & I said yeah, this guy at a frat house told me his name was something that he made up so I told him my name is Carmen. & she said, "be careful, your daughter will be named that"

It took me a minute to understand what she was saying and then I remembered & we laughed together.

You see, my mom was an Alpha Phi and one of her sorority sisters, Lisa, was and remains her best friend. During college, Lisa & my mom would go out together and if they didn't want a guy to know their real names, my mom would say she was Alexandra & Lisa would say she was Elizabeth.

So, that's how I ended up Alexandra Elizabeth, a name they loved, a name I love & a name that holds great memories.

Ali came the day I was born when I was a tiny 4 pounds & my mom thought I was too small for such a big name.

Alexandra Elizabeth, Ali for short.

I like Carmen, but I think I'll put more thought into my pseudo-name next time, because chances are good I could end up having a daughter with that name.

Hey Ali - I'm a new follower! I love this post - I love hearing stories of how people were named! How neat that your name holds such special meaning and memories! You'll have to keep us updated on your next pseudo-name of choice! hehe. :)
